WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL WITH CHILDREN’S CLOTHES AND SKIN IRRITATION?

children's clothes washing tips

Take a look at our top tips for keeping your children’s clothes skin friendly and irritant free:

  1. Wash everything before first usage

Before baby clothes end up on your child’s body, they have been through the manufacturing process, where pesticides and chemicals can be present. Therefore, we would always recommend washing baby clothes with fragrance-free detergent and fabric softener at least once before using them. Neutral offers detergents that are free from dyes, perfumes and parabens. We would also suggest suggest following this advice with second hand clothes too.

  2. Wash soft toys with care

From favourite teddies to cosy blankets, your child’s soft toys should be washed from time to time. For this purpose, use detergent and fabric softener that is free from fragrance.

  3. Soak the stain directly

Mashed carrots, spaghetti and sauce, grass – the list of stains that appear on children’s clothes is never ending. To remove the stain, soak the stained garment, and add a little liquid detergent directly on the stain when you get home. Then wash as usual, it should come out as good as new!

  4. Ketchup on party clothes?

A good tip for both adults and children: simple stains on delicate materials can be removed by using a wet wipe. Rub gently and see the mark disappear!

  5. Skip the rinse for outer garments

Does your child like to jump in puddles, play in the sandbox and be covered with mud? You’re not alone but luckily those stains usually disappear by following your washing routine – but avoid fabric softener, as it can negatively affect the water-repellent function.

  6. Store the detergent properly

Very important! Keep detergents and fabric softeners out of reach of curious children’s fingers and avoid sunlight and heat.
